South Africa – offering something for everyone….
South Africa is a truly vibrant and exciting destination, with something to please everyone. Below are some of the experiences on offer on a holiday to South Africa
South Africa has some of the most diverse and spectacular scenery in the world. Miles of golden beaches, unspoiled and rugged coastline, dramatic mountains, national parks and game reserves teeming with big game and hundreds of birds, oceans and rivers, floral masterpieces – all readily accessible and waiting to be explored.
Wildlife and animals
South Africa has some of the best and most accessible safari destinations in the world. Travellers can splurge on an all-inclusive safari in private game lodges, take guided game tours, or self-drive in one of the private reserves or national parks. The famous ‘’big five’’ (elephant, leopard, rhino, lion, buffalo) are all available to be seen in South Africa
South Africa’s vineyards have been making some of the best wine in the world for over 300 years. Picturesque Cape Dutch buildings set amongst rolling vineyards welcome you. Olive plantations producing beautiful olive oils and products (olive oil tastings possible!), world renowned wineries to small boutique gems, it’s a must visit.
You can visit a variety of museums and follow in the footsteps of some of the greatest freedom icons in modern history, such as Nelson Mandela, Oliver Tambo and Mahatma Gandhi, among many others. Historic battlefields hold such interesting stories, and South African rock art is among the best in the world.
From Whale watching (generally Apr-Nov), to cage diving with great white sharks, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Friendly African penguins greet you at Boulders Bay, dolphins show off their talents, and turtles lay their eggs on sandy beaches. One can also experience some of the best scuba diving and snorkelling available (a personal favourite of ours is out of Rocktail Bay)
Getting to know the local people is often a highlight of many peoples visit to South Africa. Townships such as Soweto offer a variety of activities, or perhaps you want to visit a Zulu village or stay overnight on a farm and enjoy the local hospitality. South Africans are friendly and proud, and love to show off their beautiful country
The Great Outdoors
Great weather with a huge varitey of locations and eco-systems gives you the opportunity to enjoy so many varied activities – mega-thrill adventures, river rafting, hiking, paragliding, 4×4 tracks, beach-side fun, mountain walks, bird watching and of course game viewing are all available in the great outdoors
Shopping and cuisine
Plenty of opportunities exist to purchase unique and special curios and gifts from all different parts and cultures of South Africa – jewellery, beaded curios, cloths, wooden carvings. It’s also a great place to enjoy the magnificent variety of cuisine available, with so many flavours and styles to choose from especially given that during their history, South Africa has had a myriad of cultures mix – Malay, Portuguese and Indian to name a few. Add to the indulgence with a glass of great South African wine, and it makes the experience complete!
Pack your camera, binoculars, a hat and a sense of adventure on a trip to South Africa.
